VietNamNet Bridge - New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has contributed US$9 million to Vietnam and Mexico to carry out two-year pilot traffic safety programmes, said the World Health Ogranisation (WHO).
Road traffic injury prevention programmes, funded through the Bloomberg Family Foundation, will be piloted in Mexico and Vietnam, with a focus on increasing the use of motorcycle helmets, seat-belts and child restraints; reducing drink-driving; and improving the visibility of pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. |

VietNamNet Bridge - Voluntary activities have actively contributed to helping young people, including students and pupils, become mature and gain more practical experience, according to a conference held in Hanoi on September 19 to review the youth volunteer campaign in 2007.
The campaign was implemented in 8,119 precincts and communes in remote areas with special difficulties. Young volunteers assumed different tasks of boosting socio-economic development in these far-flung areas. |
