the inauguration of the school. |
This is a much-needed
educational facility in this poor region, which was built through the
Vietnam Children's Fund (VCF), an American non-governmental
organization in Vietnam.
ConocoPhillips Vietnam
president Bobby Nolen said his company selected the Tan Ha Commune to
build a new two-story school building comprising eight classrooms, a
staff room and a library.
This is because the commune
has only one primary school for 826 students who must attend school in
shifts at four different locations.
"The new building will
serve over 300 students and will significantly promote quality
primary-school education in our district," said Ham Tan District's
chairman Trinh Van Thu.
ConocoPhillips is an
international integrated oil company operating in more than 45
countries. Except for the Nam Con Son pipeline, the company which
celebrated the 10th anniversary of its partnership in Vietnam in May
has business interests in five oil and gas properties in Vietnam.
